Couple on Bridge: NYC (Norman Parkinson)

In my youth I went through a period where I collected "art postcards" and I purchased a postcard with what looked like a young(ish) couple in New York City that was starting a new life together (or celebrating a victory of sorts). Then, in a helplessly involuntary moment, I sent to it a couple that was starting a new life together (I always loved the way this photo captured that "we have our whole lives ahead of us!" feeling).

A few years later I went shopping for the same postcard but couldn't find it. Something happened—because I used to see this image all over the place. The artist, the agent, or the artist's estate, must have stopped licensing the image. (I didn't know it at the time, but the photographer was Norman Parkinson). I tried all sorts of Google image searches like "Couple on Bridge in NYC" "Black and white picture couple on bridge nyc" — but couldn't find it. Then one day I caught a glimpse of it on a blog. That was it! I traced it back to the photographer. The image name was "parkinson076.jpg" so that gave me a clue on the photographers name. In the next few minutes I found other photos—but none, in my opinion, were as good as this one. Then, without any hesitation, I ordered a copy of a poster from eBay. It was mine, at last! (but I'll share it with you).
