All of this talk about Google Analytics brings up a good point. If you're doing competitive research, be aware that your competitor (if you're accessing the web from your company network) can tell that you (you the company not you the person) have visited their website, how many pages you looked at, and what keywords you used to get there. Frankly, I don't believe this is a big privacy issue per se, but when I'm very focused on a competitor I do my surfing from home. That's just me. I don't like tipping my hand. I don't want to give them the satisfaction that we're spending an iota of time thinking about them. |
